Marriage License Requirements
To obtain a Marriage License both parties must be present, with a valid driver's license or picture identification card, and social security number.
If there has been a divorce within the last six (6) months, a certified copy of the Final Divorce Decree is required. If it has been longer than six (6) months, just the exact date is needed.
Both parties must read the Family Law Handbook and sign an affidavit stating that the handbook was read. Copies are available in the Marriage License Department, or you may download a copy from this site:

In 1998 the Florida Legislature passed a law based on the knowledge that, among other things, the state has a compelling interest in educating its citizens with regard to marriage. For you, that law means that both parties must read the Family Law Handbook and sign an affidavit stating that the handbook was read.

The affidavit required to be signed by both parties stating that the Family Law Handbook has been read prior to obtaining a marriage license.
The license fee is ninety-three dollars and fifty cents ($93.50) cash, money order Visa, Discover, Master Card, American Express, or cashier's check. (Make checks payable to: Clerk of Court) Correct change is appreciated. There is a three (3) day waiting period on the license.

By Car
PSL is easily accessable by car from West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and other points in South Florida via Interstate 95 and Florida's Turnpike.
By Plane
- Palm Beach International Airport, 1000 Turnage Boulevard, (561) 471-7420, West Palm Beach, FL. This is the nearest airport with commercial service to Port St. Lucie.
- St. Lucie County International Airport - This is the nearest airport to PSL, it is located in nearby Fort Pierce. The airport has no commercial service, so bring your own plane.
Get around
By car
Car is the easiest, if not only way to get around Port St. Lucie. There is very little public transportation and PSL is very sprawled, so driving is the only option.
By Boat
Port St. Lucie has a small canal system that can be used to navigate parts of the city, with the river functioning as the central canal.
Stay safe
- Driving -- Florida has "no fault" auto accident laws, which means you are responsible for up to $10,000 in damage to your car, even if you are not responsible for the accident. Make sure your rental car comes with colission insurance, or obtain separate insurance. Florida also has a very high rate of auto fatalities, so take extra care on the roads. A lot of drivers in PSL can be very reckless at times and the amount of traffic is high for a city of it's size.
