Stanley Park Weddings

Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., offers five sites for the ceremony: Rose Garden, Duck Pond, Japanese Garden, Arboretum and Herb Garden. For $250, you will be allowed one hour in the site of your choice, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Rose Garden is the most popular wedding site in mid-June through July, when the roses are in full bloom.

While the Duck Pond is not the ideal place for a large wedding, the pond, stone walls, benches, water wheel, carriage house and covered bridge provide a romantic, colonial setting, excellent for pictures.

The Japanese Garden, Arboretum and Herb Garden all provide unique greenery and a peaceful atmosphere for your ceremony. Rhododendrons and other flowering bushes grow amongst smooth stones in the Japanese Garden and lead to the Japanese Tea House, an open bamboo structure that can serve as the focal point for your ceremony.

The five-acre Arboretum is the largest and most easily accessible of the wedding sites. Many different species of trees and shrubs provide shade around a 30-foot, elegant fountain.

In the Herb Garden, islands of culinary and medicinal herbs, interspersed with perennial flowers create natural aisles for the ceremony. The extra benefit of choosing the Herb Garden is that it is next to the Meeting House, which provides additional photo opportunities and shelter in case of rain.

Park attendants will set up a maximum of 20 chairs for you for $2 each. You may not bring your own chairs. In case of rain, you may choose to move the ceremony to the Meeting House, a small, brown, 18th century-style building with benches to accommodate 85 people.

Your reception may also be held at the 300-acre park. The Beveridge Pavilion complex contains a dining hall and kitchen. The ample L-shaped structure is open on three sides, with a dining hall on one side that will seat 250 at long banquet tables and a stage are on the other, with a sound and light system and large fireplace barbecues. Contact the park for the different set up options available. You can reserve the pavilion for $100 per hour on week days or for a flat rate of $600 for seven hours on weekends. Use of the kitchen is an extra $100 on week days and an extra $200 on weekends.
